Our conference venue Haus der Kirche is a conference center of the Protestant Academy Baden. It is located in Bad Herrenalb, a spa town in the northern Black Forest near Karlsruhe and about two hours from Frankfurt by train.

How to get there?

With public transport

By train to Karlsruhe main station (Karlsruhe Hbf), then with suburban train S1.

Take the S1 via Ettlingen to Bad Herrenalb Bahnhof. The S1 trains leave directly in front of the main station (Bahnhofsvorplatz).

The S1 to Bad Herrenalb departs (at least) every hour at x.13 h until midnight and the journey takes 40 minutes. (There are additional trains at x.53 h until 15.53 h.)

From Bad Herrenalb Bahnhof we recommend to walk (5-10 minutes, see below) or to take a taxi.

By foot from Bahnhof Bad Herrenalb (5-10 Min.)

The conference center lies behind the catholic church St. Bernhard at the hillside. The church (made of red sandstone) is visible from Bahnhof Bad Herrenalb.

We recommend the following route: From Bahnhof Bad Herrenalb follow the Bahnhofstrasse along the park Schweizer Wiese until you reach Ettlinger Strasse. Cross the street at the crosswalk and turn left into Bleichweg. After 50 meters turn right into the Flachsteinweg. At the end of this street the conference center lies at the hillside on the right.

By car

From the south (Freiburg/ Basel/Strassburg)  or  the north (Mannheim/Frankfurt) via motorway A5, take the exit Karlsruhe-Ettlingen and follow the traffic signs to Bad Herrenalb.

From the east (München/Ulm/Stuttgart) via motorway A8, take the motorway A5 at the interchange Karlsruhe towards Freiburg/Basel/Strassburg. Then take the exit Karlsruhe-Ettlingen and follow the traffic signs to Bad Herrenalb.

In Bad Herrenalb turn sharp left into Bleichweg after the first crosswalk. Turn right after 50 meters into Flachsteinweg and follow this street to the end, where you will see the parking lot of the conference center.

Airports

The closest airports are Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (FKB) and Frankfurt (FRA).

From Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden take the bus X34 to Rastatt Bahnhof and then a train to Karlsruhe Hbf or the bus X34 to Bühl and then the bus X44 directly to Bad Herrenalb. (Please check the website of the Deutsche Bahn to find the  best option for your arrival time.)

From Frankfurt Airport there are direct trains (ICE) to Karlsruhe Hbf.
